We’re looking for a part-time Online Sales Associate and Shop Assistant to handle ebay listings, customer communication, and shipping for our refurbished photo gear business.

Position Title: Online Sales Associate & Shop Assistant (Part-Time) 12-5 Mon-Fri.

Position Overview

Are you a highly organized, self-motivated local resident looking for a dynamic, hands-on part-time role close to home? Our established business has been proudly serving dedicated clients and the global eBay community since 2005. We are looking for a super-reliable, detail-oriented professional to become the dependable backbone of our daily operations and spearhead an exciting new retail project.

This position splits time between managing our active online sales channels, greeting our face-to-face customers, and building a brand-new antique and junk shop storefront from the ground up in our adjacent retail space.

You do not need any specialized knowledge of historical photography or repair—we will fully train you on how to sort and evaluate the inventory. We are strictly looking for an operations-minded individual who loves transforming cluttered spaces into organized environments, enjoys neighborhood customer service, and knows how to create a fun online social media presence.

1. eBay Sales Manager

Post and sell gear on our eBay store:

  • Photograph items and write clear, honest, and appealing descriptions.

  • Clean, inspect, and test cameras and equipment before listing.

  • Respond to customer questions and messages.

  • Pack and ship orders with care.

  • Keep track of inventory and make sure listings stay up to date.

2. Main Counter Operations & Logistics

  • Front-Counter Coverage: Greet in-person repair clients, professionally log in equipment brought in for technical service, and handle standard retail point-of-sale checkouts. No camera repair knowledge or experience needed.

  • Communications: Answer incoming shop phone calls, take accurate messages, and handle routine inquiries with a friendly, helpful attitude.

  • Shop Stewardship: Maintain a tidy, professional workspace across both storefronts by executing light daily cleaning (dusting, vacuuming, emptying trash, and keeping the bathroom clean).

3. Antique Store Launch & Management (New Project!)

  • Space Organization: Transform our adjacent 2nd storefront space from storage into a curated, clean, and highly browsable "antique and junk" shop.

  • Inventory & Pricing: Sort through historical batches of uncataloged vintage equipment, clean them up, catalog them, and price them for retail display based on simple guidelines.

4. Community & Social Media Outreach

  • Social Media Management: Create and maintain an engaging, fun local social media presence (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) under the shop name Elkins Park Camera.

  • Community Engagement: Post regular, high-energy updates showing off quirky finds, unique vintage pieces, and "junk bin" arrivals to capture the attention of the active Philadelphia creative and student scenes.

Compensation, Schedule & Reliability

  • Hourly Rate: $21.00 per hour

  • Weekly Earnings: $525.00 per week ($27,300 annualized)

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM (25 hours per week)

  • Crucial Requirement: Absolute punctuality is non-negotiable. Our repair clients frequently travel 1 to 2 hours to visit us. Ensuring the shop doors are open and the counter is reliably staffed at 12:00 PM sharp is the #1 priority of this position.

Note: An appreciation for classic design or general photography is a plus, but we are specifically looking for an operations-focused professional rather than equipment collectors or hobbyists.
