A note regarding tariffs on Chinese imports.
Unless President Trump cancels tariffs on Chinese imports at the last second, we will likely face significant surcharges on repair parts. Most camera repair parts are only available from our Chinese trading partners, meaning there is no alternative source for many of these items. For example, a shutter unit that currently costs $175 would jump to $428.75 with a 145% tariff.
Additionally, starting May 2, if we purchase a $25 repair part from China and it's shipped via the Postal Service, a 120% tariff—or a $100 fee per package, whichever is higher—is expected to be assessed. This fee is scheduled to increase to $200 in June.
While these policies may change at any time, we are very concerned about the impact of tariffs on our repair part supply and their effect on our ability to provide economically feasible repairs. Unfortunately, these additional costs will need to be passed on to the consumer.
NOW is the time to call & write your Congressional representatives. Tell them that tariffs are bad for American consumers, bad for American business and bad for the American economy.
